QUICK DRAW INFORMATION FOR COMMUNITY ARTISTS

 

Juried Artists in Allegany Arts Council’s Mountain Maryland Plein Air:
Please join us  for the “Cumberland Quick Draw” Event

When: Saturday, June 24, 2017; 10 a.m. to Noon

Where: Cumberland: Historic Town Center and nearby area—maps are available at the registration table

Requirements:
Participation in the Quick Draw is optional and FREE, and as a juried artist you are pre-registered for the event.  On the morning of the competition, check in either when you turn in your competition paintings or beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the AAC registration table on the corner of Baltimore and Centre Streets. We can stamp additional canvases at that time as needed.

Event Timing:
At 10 a.m., whistles will blow and you will have exactly two (2) hours to paint. All painting must be done within the general boundaries described. At noon, whistles will blow again and you must stop painting and bring your artwork back to the registration area.

Judging:
Judging will begin at 12: 05 for students; 12:15 for community/non-juried artists; and 12:30 for juried artists. Please set up your work for judging in the designated area. It is best presented framed, on an easel that you provide. Only pieces painted during the actual quick draw may be considered for judging.

Prizes:
1st Place: $550
2nd Place: $350
3Rd Place: $200
Historical Scene: $100

Sales:
Sales of artwork produced during the Quick Draw are subject to a 40% commission and will be managed on site by AAC staff. Any unsold quick draw works should be taken to the Saville Gallery for display on Saturday evening

Community Artists: Please join us for the Allegany Arts Council’s Mountain Maryland Plein Air “Cumberland Quick Draw” Event

Requirements:
Participation in the Quick Draw is optional and FREE, but advance registration is required (either on the day of the event or earlier in the week at the Allegany Arts Council) to be eligible for prizes. On the morning of the competition, you may bring up to three (3) canvases/surfaces to be stamped. You may register beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Event Timing:
At 10 a.m., whistles will blow and you will have exactly two (2) hours to paint. All painting must be done within the general boundaries described. At noon, whistles will blow again and you must stop painting and bring your artwork back to the registration area.

Judging:
Judging will begin at 12: 05 for students; 12:15 for community/non-juried artists; and 12:30 for juried artists. Please hurry back and set up your work for judging in the designated area. It is best presented framed, on an easel that you provide, however framing is not required for community entrants. Only pieces painted during the actual quick draw may be considered for judging.

Prizes:
Community or Non-Juried Artists are eligible for a $200 1st prize, $150 2nd prize, or a $100 3rd prize. Student Artists (18 and younger) are eligible for a $100 1st prize.

Sales:
